Two famous wine regions that you should definitely visit today are SANTA YNEZ and OJAI. Maybe less known but definitely worth a visit. OJAI is a small wine region but offers some exceptional vineyards, close to renowned restaurants that pride themselves on their refined cuisine and lifestyle. The region of SANTA YNEZ includes more than 100 renowned vineyards and domains in Solvang, Les Olivos, Buellton, Los Alamos and Santa Ynez itself and offers a rich variety of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay and other varieties.

day 4

Santa Barbara - Monterey/Carmel

Enjoy a drive along the Pacific Ocean and stop in San Simeon where you marvel at the opulence of Hearst Castle's decor. Then continue through the coastal cliffs to Big Sur and the day ends in Monterey/Carmel where you'll stay tonight.

day 5

Monterey/Carmel visit

1 Day

50 km

The Monterey region is well known for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, it has been in existence for over 200 years and the Franciscans are at the origin. The secret of this wine region is the Blue Grand Canyon, a huge crevasse along the side creating a micro-climate, ideal for a variation of over 42 grape varieties. Monterey also invites you to visit the Bay Aquarium, explore the famous 17-Mile Drive and learn the fascinating history of the Carmel Mission.

day 6

Monterey/Carmel - Yosemite National Park

1 Day

360 km

You will leave the coast and continue eastward, crossing a rich agricultural area over the 'Sierra de Salinas' to Yosemite National park, one of the most beautiful natural parks in America. Shimmering waterfalls, breathtaking panoramas, beautiful hikes... too much to mention. So today no vineyards but sporting relaxation in a healthy, green environment.

day 7

Yosemite National Park - Napa Valley/Sonoma County

1 Day

275 km

You leave this splendid park with its beautiful green nature and continue north to Napa or Sonoma (or the surrounding area). This famous region has the honor of gathering a hundred of vineyards that made the Californian Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon famous all over the world.

day 8

Napa Valley/Sonoma County visit

1 Day

60 km

Here the time will probably be too short because the offer is 'enormous' and very diverse. World-renowned wineries, Michelin-starred restaurants, luxurious spas in beautiful hotels, too many to mention. The Sonoma region includes the vineyards of Yountsville, Rutherford, Calistoga, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Petaluna and Sonoma itself while the Napa Valley region stretches from Napa to St. Helens with a succession of vineyards along which the famous WINE TRAIN is organized. Castello Di Amorosa, Domaine Chandon, Grgich Hills, Raymond Vineyards are just some of the famous wineries you can visit during this trip.

day 9

Napa Valley/Somoma County - San Francisco

1 Day

120 km

After this fascinating visit to NAPA, drive towards San Francisco Bay. Before crossing the famous Golden Gate Bridge, we recommend a hike in Muir Woods National Monument (giant sequoias) and a stop at Sausolito, a fine artist's town with stunning views of the San Francisco skyline.
