On the other bank of the Potomac River, you find the Arlington Cemetery, where the Kennedys are buried. In the afternoon, the Smithsonian Institute and the new 'Spy Museum' are worth a visit.

The panoramic Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, takes youthrough the park. Travel further to Charlottesville, once the favourite town of Thomas Jefferson.

Before traveling to Richmond, you can held a stop at the wonderful residence Monticello. This estate of 259 hectare was Jeffersons residence for 56 years. This beautiful house is situated on the top of a hill and has a stunning view over the State of Virginia. In the same neighbourhood, there is also Ash Lawn-Highland, the residence of James Monroe, a friend and confidant of Thomas Jefferson. Travel to Richmond.

This morning, you drive via the scenic route '5', past several 'Plantation Homes' at James River to Williamsburg, where time stood still the past 200 years. Check in at hotel. Visit the colonial Williamsburg and participate in a guided tour in the historic houses, public buildings and 18th - century work shops. In Jamestown, the 'citizens' relive the daily life from the Pioneer area in traditional clothing. If you like te relax a little more, you can visit the amusement park Busch Gardens.

Via Norfolk, the most important harbour of Virginia State, you take a ride to the coast. You cannot miss a visit to the impressive  'Mariner's Museum'. Fort Monroe, in the nearby town, Hampton, is the biggest fort in stone, ever build in America. Also the NASA's Langley Research Center can be visited here. Virginia Beach welcomes you with its kilometers of beaches and 3 km long boardwalk.

In het nabijgelegen plaatsje Hampton staat het grootste stenen fort dat ooit in Amerika werd gebouwd, nl. Virginia Beach verwelkomt u daarna met kilometers lange stranden en een 3 kilometer lange boardwalk.

You are thrown back to the good old days, as the Amish live without a car or other modern technology and facilities.

Planned for today are the cities of Harrisburg and Gettysburg, a very important historic region for the battlefields of the Civil War. The real battle for independence was faught here. In Baltimore, the most important attractions are the National Aquarium, the submarine USS Torsk and the US-fregat "Constellation".
